On her first night home, Jasmine hid behind the lounge curtain like an actor waiting for their moment at the theatre. A voice says “I think Jasmine’s a little nervous on her first night”. Jasmine thinks “I’ll just stay by the curtain for a while. I’ll be centre stage soon enough!” Jasmine enjoys digging around in her blanket, gathering it up and moving it around. A voice says “So what do you think of your new home, Jasmine?” Jasmine thinks to herself, “Great digs!” Jasmine has a habit of lying across people’s feet and settling down there. Someone whose foot is now covered with spaniel says “Jasmine, can I move soon?” Jasmine thinks “There’s nothing better than a comfortable footrest!” At times during house training, a newspaper might be put down on the floor. Jasmine would sometimes appear to be studying the newspaper carefully, thinking to herself “I’m not a guard dog. But I am a Guardian dog!”

Given the chance, Jasmine tears up newspapers and leaves the floor covered in bits of paper. She’s looking at the crossword on one of the pages, thinking “Hmm… 3 across, 5 letters. ‘To refrain from consuming or doing something’. Is there such a word?” After having energetically torn up more newspaper, Jasmine stands there with a bit of paper stuck to her nose. A voice asks, “Jasmine, what’s that on your nose?” Jasmine thinks “’s nowt”, to which the voice replies, “OK then, what’s that on your snout?” Jasmine is full of energy and in need of some entertainment. She thinks to herself, "This room isn't lively enough... Let's Jazz it up a bit!" Jasmine is wagging all over all as admiring voices declare “Ooo, she’s gorgeous!”, “Ah, she’s lovely!”, “Aren’t her ears big!” Jasmine thinks “It’s the Jasmine Appreciation Society!”

Jasmine chews most things around her, and many show the mark of her rather sharp puppy teeth. A favourite item on the menu is her blanket. While stuck in, she thinks “This blanket is great for chewing. Toothsome!” Jasmine is lying at the top of a step, peering over it. Rather daunted, she thinks “One small step for Guy and Anne. One giant leap for Jaskind.” Jasmine’s chewing doesn’t stop with newspaper. Books are just as tasty if she can get hold of them. She has her mouth around a large book with the title “Dog behavior”, and thinks “I like a book that I can get my teeth into!” Jasmine finds a polished hardwood floor takes some getting used to, being easy to slip and slide. Feeling rather uncertain on the floor, she thinks “How do puppies move gracefully on a hardwood floor? I’ll never figure skating out!”
