Need more fonts? If your computer doesn't have the fonts you want to use, sometimes you can find them on the internet. For example, at http://www.cursivewriting.org there are a number of "unjoined" fonts which might look like those your students use. (I've never been in contact with the company responsible for http://www.cursivewriting.org and so can't vouch for their products or services, for it's an example of the the sorts of interesting fonts available.)

Here are some tips based on recent feedback from someone who's made their own customized letter sets:
Be careful that your sample letters don't contain unintentional small ink strokes due to the stylus touching the screen by accident while you were creating the sample. Herbi Writer will expect the same ink strokes to be written later by your students.
Maintain sufficient constant pressure with the stylus as you write. If your stylus leaves the screen for a moment while writing, the letter may appear to have one stroke but in fact it contains two. When the student writes their letter later, Herbi Writer will expect the same number of strokes as in the sample. (Eventually Herbi Writer will give up waiting if the expected number of strokes never appears.)
Don't write the new sample letters fast, and maintain a roughly constant speed around the entire letter. It's tempting to write some parts of the letters, (for example parts of 'd' or 'p') quite fast, but Herbi Writer will be more reliable during the letter evaluation process if the samples weren't written too fast.
Once you've made your own sets of letters on one computer, you may want to have these available on a number of computers. (For example, if you're in a classroom setting where you have more than one computer.) You won't want to have to recreate the new samples on each computer. You can copy the new letter sets from one computer to another, but it's not obvious how to do that. I'll update the software to help with this process, but for now, please contact Barker@Herbi.org and I can send you details on how to do this.
